International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Today is International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The annual observance of the International Day of Disabled Persons was proclaimed in 1992, by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3. It aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development, and to increase awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life. The 2017 theme is “Transformation towards sustainable and resilient society for all”. Read more: http://www.un.org/en/events/disabilitiesday/

Fracarita International, as international NGO for development cooperation of the Brothers of Charity, assists hundreds of children and adults with disabilities to gain greater independence by providing rehabilitation programmes and special needs education in 22 facilities. With a focus on their abilities instead of disabilities, they could improve their quality of life.

Some of our centres celebrate this special day. We will publish the activity programmes soon here.
