Further decentralisation of psychiatric care in the Kivu Region, DR Congo.

During the visit of Brother René Stockman, Superior General of the Brothers of Charity and chairman of Fracarita International, to the Psychiatric Centre "Sosame" in Bukavu, the new administrative block and an observation ward were opened.

In the presence of the management of the Coopération Suisse, Mrs. Denise Luethi Crisan, the cooperation was discussed in order to further develop the decentralisation of psychiatric care in the Kivu region.

Recently, mobile teams have started to regularly visit health centres in South Kivu to provide psychiatric consultations.

At the same time, the departments in Shabunda and Uvira are further supported from Bukavu. In Uvira they hope to continue psychiatric care in a totally new setting soon.
