St. Mary's Boys Home Kalmunai

 

At present, approximately fifty boys reside at the St. Mary’s Boys Home. Most of them are orphans or live in extreme poverty. On December 26th 2004, the home was severely damaged by the tsunami. It was little short of a miracle that none of the boys at the home died that day. In April 2005, the first stone was laid for the construction of a new boys home, at a safe distance from the shoreline. Without this boys home, education would remain a dream for the many underprivileged children in the area.
