Archdiocese of Manila Ministry on Persons with a Disability
The AMMPD (Archdiocese of Manila Ministry on Persons with a Disability) organised a big event on 3 December 2016 at the Don Bosco School in Makati City. The school children were invited, together with their guardians, parents and teachers.
There were different special schools, institutions and parish based organisations who joined in the celebration.
The AMMPD ministry is under the archdiocese of Manila whose primary objective is to empower and uplift people with different disabilities. They collaborate with various stakeholders in helping persons with disabilities.
This concern was brought into realisation. The ministry has been organising this special event every year, where everyone is given the chance to show their skills and talents despite their disabilities. This is also one venue to educate people who have limited knowledge on persons with disabilities (PwD). Seeing them (PWD) perform will most likely broaden the perspective and appreciate their capabilities and not their disabilities.
Along with the programme, they offered dental services, legal advice, photo booth and free snacks and food for the participants.
The OPI students performed two dance numbers, Hawaiian and modern dance. They were well appreciated by the crowd through claps and handshakes and even with ‘selfies’. After the performance, they received gifts as their reward.
