Home de la Vierge des Pauvres (HVP)

The main branch of the Home de la Vierge des Pauvres (HVP) is one of the largest centres for individuals with a disability in Rwanda. Each year, more than three thousand people receive care either as outpatients or are hospitalised for a short period of time. The care is provided by the orthopaedic and physical therapy departments. Support is also available from the Centre de Santé (mainly orthopaedic surgery and general medical care). The partner agency has the required specialised infrastructure and equipment for medical orthopaedic services at their disposal such as a fully equipped operating theatre. Children with a disability are often treated as hospitalised patients and in addition to orthopaedic care also receive education.
